
After two years of development, the brand new Skytics simulation platform has been unveiled! It is the name of the common platform built in collaboration between SkySoft-ATM and Airbus under the project lead of Skyguide in the frame of the SESAR2020 European Research & Innovation Program.
This platform is a traffic generator and simulator that supports the development of new Air Traffic Management capabilities for the Air Traffic Controller in relation to datalink, downloaded trajectories from the aircraft, advanced Trajectory Prediction and 4D trajectory management and Conflict Detection and Resolution tools.
With the capabilities to simulate from pilot position and aircraft equipment to the Air Traffic Controller CWP (Controller Working Position) all the new capabilities offered by the advanced datalink exchanges with the new generation of avionic that will become mandatory in 2027, the Skytics platform is THE R&D platform that we use in SESAR2020 exercises of the projects PJ18 and PJ38 related to the 4D trajectory Management topic.
The Skytics platform is already capable to play complex exercises (i.e. 8 sectors, 500 flights scenarios).
It is also fully ready for New pan-European network service integration and is using technologies compliant with the SWIM Yellow Profile standard, which is a specification that provides requirements for the implementation of technical infrastructure.
The Skytics platform is built by extending the Airbus Genetics product and adapting it to the Skysoft flight data processing systems and the controller working position of the former Skysim platform, embarking all the last development from both companies in this area and as well as new specifications defined by Skyguide.
Thanks to this new platform and the functionalities developed within the framework of the SESAR projects, we are paving the way for the future of Air Traffic Management by offering our Air Traffic Controllers even more efficient and innovative tools.
