The Jane’s ATC Awards take place during the World ATM Congress in Madrid and rewards the best projects in the Air Traffic Management industry for their progress made through technological, environmental, runway, take-off and equipment innovations.

Shortlisted this year in the “Runway/Approach” and the “Service Provision” awards, skyguide’s efforts to continuously improve safety and efficiency were proudly honoured with the “Runway/Approach” award for the following project:

Advanced Runway Safety Improvement (ARSI) programme with Indra Navia, SkySoft ATM and Zurich Airport.

The Advanced Runway Safety Improvement (ARSI) implemented in Zurich provides our tower controllers with crucial support in the complex runway set-up of the airport. Acting as a second pair of eyes or a clearance controller, it immediately informs the tower controller of conflicting clearances or runway incursions during landing and take-off operations. Grouping several systems into a single interface, the ARSI allows the controllers to keep the full awareness of the current operations with a single click.
