Their main activities are the operation and provision of EGNOS services, the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service. Skyguide is one of the company's founders and holds an 8.33% stake
At the 2019 World ATM Congress in Madrid, the Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) from France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, in their role as founders of ESSP-SAS (European Satellite Service Provider), met to sign a joint letter, which underlines their commitment to continue their support to EGNOS, a European Union programme managed by the European GNSS Agency (GSA).
One of the main messages of the letter is to express their agreement with the recently approved EU PBN Implementation Regulation, identifying EGNOS as one of the main contributors to PBNs to increase airport safety and accessibility through a large-scale development of EGNOS/LPV procedures by the end of 2020-24.
The letter is signed by the CEOs of the 7 ANSP shareholders of ESSP, the EGNOS service provider. The complete letter is available for further details.
