Geneva, 25 June 2024, 23.30h – A heavy thunderstorm on Tuesday evening caused flooding in the basement of the Swiss air navigation service provider's control centre in Geneva. This affected the cooling of the data centre. Due to the risk of the air traffic control systems overheating, Skyguide temporarily closed the airspace in the Geneva area shortly after 22:00 for safety reasons. No take-offs or landings can take place.

Skyguide is working intensively on a solution to restore the cooling of the data centre. Skyguide regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers and airlines.

Skyguide is in contact with all its partners and apologises to all passengers and customers affected.
