Daniel Weder took on the role of CEO of skyguide on 1 October 2007. At the time, the company was going through a difficult phase. “Daniel Weder has succeeded in stabilising the company, bringing about the necessary changes, and ensuring that Swiss air navigation services have a long-term future,” explains Walter T. Vogel, president of the Board of Directors of skyguide. He has managed to develop skyguide continuously as a High Reliability Organisation, and has secured a long-term position for the company within a complex national and European environment. With the Virtual Centre at the core piece, he has ensured that it is moving in a successful direction. As a former airline manager, he has always had a comprehensive understanding of the aviation business and has introduced important new concepts to the entire industry. “Daniel Weder will leave behind a company that is in a strong position, with a good track record and a focus on continuity. We would like to thank him warmly for all his excellent work over the last decade,” adds Walter T. Vogel.
Alex Bristol will succeed Daniel Weder as CEO of skyguide on 1 July 2017. He is 48 years old and has dual Swiss and British citizenship. He joined skyguide as chief operating officer (COO) six years ago. As a member of the Executive Board, he has played a significant role in determining the strategic direction of skyguide. “Alex Bristol has an in-depth knowledge of the industry and its customers. His appointment is a sign of skyguide’s continuing development and will enable us to meet the diverse demands on Swiss air navigation services also in the future.”
