Urs Lauener to become new COO of skyguide

On 1 July 2017, Urs Lauener will become the new COO of skyguide and a member of the executive board. He will take over from Alex Bristol, who will succeed Daniel Weder as CEO on the same date.
In the 1990s, Urs worked as an air traffic controller and process expert at the Swiss air navigation service provider, before moving to the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) as an air navigation service specialist. He returned to skyguide in 2003 where he held a number of management roles, initially in military and regional air traffic control. He then became head of civil operations for the entire upper airspace. Urs Lauener, who is 51 and comes from Bern, clearly has extensive experience to draw on in his new position.
The executive board and the board of directors are very pleased about this internal appointment, which will bring about dynamic changes within the organisation while also providing much-needed continuity.
