Geneva, 28 October 2015. Skyguide reports, on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA), that a Lufthansa Cargo MD11 aircraft had to abort its flight on Monday evening, October 26, owing to technical problems and was obliged to jettison fuel to bring its weight down to the maximum prescribed for landing.
The fuel was dumped between 22:15 and 22:25 hours local time on a route north of Le Bourget lake near Chambéry and La Vernaz, south of Lake Geneva in the French Alps. The fuel dump was performed at around 26’000 feet (approx. 8600 metres) above sea level.
