Geneva, 22 April 2026 – Skyguide has identified the cause of the technical issue at the control centre in Dübendorf and has developed a solution. The required system update is scheduled for this afternoon. Safety remains assured at all times. Capacity at Zurich Airport will remain reduced until further notice.
Skyguide has identified the cause of the technical issue at the control centre in Dübendorf and has developed a solution. To resolve the issue, an update of the affected system is required. This update is scheduled for this afternoon. The exact timing will depend on the progress of the technical work. Operational safety is assured at all times.
Skyguide is confident that the current capacity restrictions can be lifted over the course of the day. Until the update has been implemented and during a subsequent transition phase, the precautionary reduction of arrival capacity at Zurich Airport by 30 per cent will remain in place.
The technical issue affects a system at the interface between en‑route air traffic control and approach control. This system supports air traffic controllers in managing arriving aircraft. As a result of the issue, the system no longer reliably displays flights with longer delays. Air traffic controllers are managing these flights using established and safe manual procedures, which require more time. For this reason, Skyguide has limited arrival capacity since the start of today’s flight operations. Capacity is currently already reduced due to the Bise wind conditions. The technical issue is not currently causing any additional delays.
Skyguide regrets the inconvenience caused to its partners, customers and their passengers.
